Why Meal Prep? It’s really only thing that GUARANTEES success in your journey!
Here is wisdom from the self proclaimed, meal prep queen 😉
Because being PREPARED is not half of the battle! Being PREPARED IS THE ENTIRE BATTLE!
Those that have always stayed prepared with their meals and snacks have seen the best results and consistently. And if you have been on and off the wagon, chances are you were not consistent with your meals and eventually you fell off not knowing how to get back there and get grinding again!
What is the ONLY thing that WILL HELP you to say ‘NO’ to unhealthy food options?? You got it! It’s having your meals already prepped and in your hand! Then you just walk by the unhealthy stuff!
If you know donuts are coming to the office every Wednesday because some nut-head loves to bring them over, then you’ve gotta have a healthy treat in your ‘back pocket’ ready for you!
Because there is no such thing as will power! If I have the donut in front of me, I will eat it, that’s a fact! But if I have the option to eat something else right next to the donut, then I will always pick the something else (I’ve prepped)!
It all happens in the kitchen mama! Your success with your goals is DIRECTLY related to how much time you spent in the kitchen!
You want to put food on a AUTO PILOT? Then meal prep on ONE DAY OF THE WEEK all of your lunches and snacks and even plan for dinner, and THEN ….. you are on auto pilot with your nutrition for the rest of the week! DOESN’T THAT SOUND NICE?!
If you are succumbing to temptation right now, and especially if it is happening in your house, then you are not meal prepping well enough!
This is my lunch for this week right here and it took me 15 min to whip up while the kids were running around and I really enjoyed making up meals because I enjoy cooking.
I have sauteed veggies and tons of them: fresh onions, fresh tomatoes, 1 bell pepper chopped, then I added peas and garbanzo beans, I put spices I like and let it simmer for a few minutes until everything was soft! How beautiful does it look simmering with all the different colors? The smell was amazing too.
Then come the meal staples for dinner: chicken, fish, ground turkey, and stakes! Here is what I prepared for this week: Turkey burger mix; and marinated chicken. Salmon is also sitting in the fridge and ready to get into the pan when it’s time!
Another staple I make weekly is veggie-egg muffins!Â
The only fruit I needed to prep was my watermelon, so this is the snack and desert for us for two nights in a roll, it preserves really well and juicy in the fridge and we love it cold and refreshing! We are huge watermelon lovers in the Caminos house!
Here is my dinner with fresh veggies and the marinated chicken I prepped on the weekend!
Here we are in Panera Bread! Kids requested soup and bread they love and I brought my lunched and snacked prepped over the weekend. So the only reason why I said ‘NO’ to the soup and the bread, and it was so darn hard to say No, is because I had my food in front of me and that made is easy for me to pick the right option for me. Now, this is real dedication right here! And I have so many mommies I mentor that do the same when they go to restaurants, why would bring their containers and measure the cheese or bring their own snack! But this is a first for me so I am really proud.
This is dinner with the turkey burger mix and tomatoes and onion salad! I felt good and chopped a salad, but normally I just stir fry or steam veggies to save chopping time! This was excellent and kids loved the burgers.
Meal planning and prepping is definitely a process. It takes more time in the beginning as you learn your way around with what last longer, what foods you like to see daily, what your family likes to see, but it definitely gets much easier and it becomes a wonderful habits as you continue to do it!!!
