I used to feel like I’m going into the holidays “alone”… everyone is splurging on holiday feasts!
When it came to my lifestyle change it was difficult to turn down my mom’s homemade deserts especially on the holidays! It was like I waited for these moments so I can get stuffed because I am allowed to treat myself on the holiday! Right? BUT then I had goals I’ve been working towards and wanted to be healthy…and I realized with the right strategies, I can enjoy myself to the fullest, still plan and splurge on my so loved homemade deserts, but I can STILL stay on track with my goals too!!
So here are a few tips I have that will keep on track during the holiday weekend!
- Eat well during the day – have a great breakfast and lunch with a healthy snacks after each.
- Bring a healthy dish to the BBQ/party
- Drink lots of water throughout the day – make it a conscious activity during the holiday weekend
- Keep social the whole time – the more you engage in conversation, the less you think about food.
- Stay clear of buffet tables – if you are around them and looking at the food, you will be prone to snack on something.
- Don’t drink your calories. If you are a wine lover, stick to one to two glasses of wine for the evening. The sugar content will trigger hunger, and, again, you will end up eating more than what you anticipated.
- Be as PREPARED as you can be and ENJOY YOURSELF!
